Diagnostic Services

As part of your care journey, you may be referred to Diagnostic Services for procedures that require MRI, CT, X-Ray, Mammography, Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine imaging.

These diagnostic procedures are performed by a Medical Radiation Technologist who is a licensed medical professional trained to produce diagnostic images using various forms of radiation.  A Radiologist is a specialized physician who is trained to interpret the images produced by these diagnostic procedures.

These examinations provide valuable information about your health and play an important role in helping your doctor evaluate the most effective treatment plan for you.

You may also be referred to Diagnostic Services for interventional procedures.  These procedures are most commonly biopsies and the placement of tubes and other devices in the body that may be required as part of your treatment plan.

As with other medical procedures, radiation is safe when used with care.  Radiologists and Medical Radiation Technologists have been trained to use the minimum amount of radiation necessary to obtain the needed results.  The amount of radiation used in most examinations is very small and the benefits greatly outweight the risk of harm.
